6 DIY Ideas to decorate your little one’s nursery
There are so many things to consider while decorating a nursery, from the colours and patterns to the furniture and accessories. We know that decorating a nursery can be an exciting yet daunting task for new parents. We decided to make it less overwhelming by hosting a contest between our TBS Moms to give away the Mother of the Month award to the winner. TBS Moms were thrilled to participate in such a fun activity! The contestants were required to curate a list of what they considered to be the best DIY ideas for a baby nursery- both easy and affordable. Out of all the entries, one particular list stood out for being innovative and utterly creative.
TBS Mom Rizwana won our hearts with the most amazing DIY list for a baby nursery. So we decided to share the winning list so that all of you beautiful mothers could get inspired with some awesome decorating tips for your baby’s nursery. Let's dive now!
Paint an accent wall
A simple and inexpensive way to add some colour and personality to your baby's room is to paint an accent wall. Choose a colour that complements the rest of the room and use painter's tape to create a geometric or abstract design. If you're feeling creative, you can even freehand a design or use a stencil. Just be sure to use baby-safe paint and keep the room well-ventilated while you work.
You may feel that this is meant for people who rely more on their artistic side and take pleasure in painting but it is easier than it sounds! But if you still don’t have time to put up many efforts then you can browse from a large selection of nursery themes at TBS like- Snow Angel Theme, Starry Night Theme, Dove Theme and many more options.
Make your own mobile
Mobile is a great way to add some visual interest to your baby's room, and it's easy to make on your own with a few simple materials. You can use anything from paper cutouts to wooden beads to create a unique and colourful mobile. Hang it from the ceiling using a hook or a piece of string, and watch your baby's eyes light up as they watch it spin. Isn’t it so sweet when you watch your baby wake up from their sleep and their eyes lit up as they see a beautiful and colourful mobile right above them?
These DIY mobiles will go amazing when paired with baby cots, cot beds or cradle beds by TBS. This will give you a crib that is both pretty and sturdy!
Style a memento box
What’s better than making use of your baby’s old clothes, toys and blankets? Everything that your baby does not use or require anymore can be used to decorate their nursery.
Baby’s take-home outfit, hospital bracelets, and other first bits are adorable DIY nursery ideas. It's a great way to preserve your munchkin’s first moments and relish them forever.
Add some texture with a DIY rug
A soft and cosy rug is a must-have in any nursery, and you can easily make your own with some fabric and a rug pad. Cut strips of fabric and knot them onto the rug pad until it's completely covered. You can use a single colour or mix and match different fabrics to create a fun and colourful look.
Personalise a lampshade
A lamp is a practical and stylish addition to any nursery, and you can make it even more special by personalising the lampshade. Use fabric paint, stencils, or even decoupage to add your baby's name, initials, or favourite animal to the lampshade. This is a simple and affordable way to make a store-bought lamp look like a custom piece.
Make your own wall art
Wall art is a great way to add some cheekiness to your baby's room, and you don't have to spend a lot of money to create a beautiful and unique piece. Use fabric, paint, or paper cutouts to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art that reflects your baby's personality or interests. Frame it and hang it on the wall for an instant focal point. If you could get your baby’s hands and feet printed on a piece of cloth/paper in different colours, then frame it and it would become the most aww-dorable artwork in the nursery!
You can also create a gallery wall as it is a fun and creative way to display photos, artwork, and other decorative items in your baby's room. Use anything from framed prints to vintage toys to create a cohesive and personalised display. Just be sure to use picture hangers or adhesive strips that won't damage the walls.
In conclusion, decorating your little one's nursery can be a lot of fun, and these DIY ideas are a great way to add some personality and charm to the space. We hope that this list drives your confidence in the creative direction and you come up with a lot more unique ideas on your own. Until then, we can rely on Rizwana's amazing DIY list and give your nursery a Dream come true makeover. We assure you that these ideas will work in your favour because the TBS team had the fortune of visiting our winner Mom Rizwana’s house and her DIY creations by her were absolutely outstanding!
