Here is how you can make breastfeeding a joy for your self and your newborn 

Breastfeeding your baby benefits you and your baby in many ways. So why not make it a joy and enjoy while you reap the benefits. Small changes made to our routine and surroundings will make a huge difference and make nursing your little one a joy and also make your baby more comfortable.

Benefits of breastfeeding for you are;

Breastfeeding burns calories and helps you lose pregnancy weight quicker. It releases the hormone oxytocin, which helps your uterus return to its pre-pregnancy size and may reduce uterine bleeding after birth. Breastfeeding also lowers your risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

For the baby:

Breast milk is especially beneficial as it may reduce your baby's risk of many illnesses and diseases. It strengthens the immune system and provides all nutrients essential for the development of the body and brain 

Breastfeeding most importantly forms that special bond between you and your baby that stays forever.

While some moms are perfectly content to stare blissfully into their baby’s eyes while feeding, other moms find they want something else to do while they’re nursing to keep them engaged. If that sounds like you, grab your phone, tablet or a good book before sitting down. Or, position your super comfy chair in front of the TV so you can catch up on all those Netflix series you have been dying to watch.

Do address cracked or sore nipples by keeping a nipple cream such as Lanolin handy. Also, nipple shields are a good way to prevent soreness in the nipples

It is a great idea to have a dedicated space and lay it out specially and comfortably for feeding your baby. This helps create that special bond and a peaceful atmosphere.having all essentials handy and being comfortable with private space goes a long way in making breastfeeding your little one a joy!

To begin with, get a super comfy chair it a recliner with the rocking function or a glider with a footstool. Feeding times can be long and you would need to recline and put your feet up. The rocking soothes the baby and is soothing 

Do invest in a good feeding pillow. It is comfortable for the baby and props up the position to avoid strain and deformation of the neck.

A pretty breastfeeding basket or a mother bag is a must!

Bibs are a great way to ensure the baby while feeding or burping does not soil his or her clothes and also protects yours. These are available in such attractive designs that they look like a part of the clothing.
    Burp cloths will help protect from baby's drool and spills. These are placed on the shoulder while making the baby burp to avoid colic.
      These are useful and handy for quick action to clean the face and to prevent the feed from running out into the baby's ear or neck.
        Nursing pads, also called breast pads, are a very useful breastfeeding accessory. Placed into a regular or a nursing bra, they can absorb breast milk from leaking breasts and protect your clothing from stains.
          It is common to experience some discomfort—particularly sore nipples and dry, cracked, sensitive skin while breastfeeding. A good nipple cream relieves the soreness and helps in prevention too.
            Using wipes before and after nursing improves breast hygiene and ensures you and your baby can experience better breastfeeding sessions and makes it safe for the baby pillow ensures that your baby is at the right height for your breast, so your shoulders don't do the work for you. Your back is supported, and your shoulders and neck can relax. Nursing pillows aren't just for breastfeeding moms – bottle-fed babies can use them, too! Nursing covers are very useful while feeding in public but also it gives an undisturbed and private environment to the baby while taking his or her feed. A nursing or feeding bra is a must as it provides support to the breast to prevent sagging and also you can feed without removing the entire bra as it is designed in such a way.
            A mother bag is useful to organize all your items of necessity in one place. Most mother bags are designed with various pockets of appropriate sizes to fit in all the essentials. These are good to carry on the go too.
